10 : BMF Bike Rally, Kelso – 10JUL10
It has not been very often that we have seen the sun set and then rise again all in the journey to and from the same gig but the route from Lincolnshire to Border Union Showground in Kelso took us that length of time and was it worth it…????
HELL, it was…every now and then in the history of the band you get a gig that takes you by the goolies and reminds you just what it is all about, the pure adrenalin rush of a large, new audience; the understanding; getting your music; hearing it for the first time; loving it and like all bands when it comes back the band excels, plays its heart out and reaches a quality and an energy that can only ever be delivered live.
Pics: Filthy Cam.As a streamlined, mean machine BFCH – a five-piece original, Celtic rock band – delivered a one and a half-hour set, the lights made Filth and Jock sweat from the end of their noses, Ben played his heart out coming up with new counter melodies on the spot, fiddle accordion, whistle…Mad Dawg upped the pace, Filth played lead on bass when required and Jock with acoustic and electric guitar as well as some well timed mouth organ was on top form.
No nonsense. Great stage and PA from Stage One PA company from Peterborough, meticulous organisation from BMF and yes, we would like to do some more of your events in the future. Scottish notes buying the CDs and T-shirts, two photographers taking the shots and independent radio stations looking for follow up interviews…
'When can we see you again? Where have you been?'…and…'Donald where's your trousers'…
or rather Filthy Phil, where's yours…laugh, we all did when Filthy bent over, split his trooosers from knee upwards and bound them with gaffer tape.
Home, 6am…
…but Jock would say 'home'. He was back there in bonny Scotland, what took us so long to take the music where it belongs, of course they 'got it', Oor Jock is one of them.
