05 : The Axe & Cleaver, Boston – 27MAR10
Pic: Filthy Cam.
It was a great turnout for the Band on Saturday night at the Axe in Boston and I just want to thank everyone who came and gave us a good night. The Essex boys had booked their B&B and made the trip again and they are always very welcome company. No nonsense, real men with a very real thirst for good ale and yes we will be paying back their loyalty by playing a local gig for them in Halstead later this year. Mad Dawg's is a double JD but don't treat Jock the same as he is likely to throw up…see you in October boys.
There were plenty of fun loving people who enjoy the craic and that is all an Axe gig is. 10.30pm start, 1pm finish and Mad Dawg wanted to do some more…but I have to be honest if anyone was flagging this week it was probably me. The sound was getting louder and louder or maybe I was just knackered but when Ben shouted "you're out of tune!" on 'But It Did' I knew I had definitely peaked and was ready for the off.
The boys all played well and they enjoyed their night, Kenbar looked perfectly miserable, Jock looked as rough as old boots and I wasn't quite sure whether he wanted to fight everyone or love them…as Dawg says, "Jock is always on the edge"…guess it must be that Glasgow thing and growing up in Possil. Filthy had his tails on and looked the eccentric and loveable 'toff' that he is, Ben had his collar up and the arrogance of youth and Dawg? well he is just Dawg and has reached that perfect age in life where he really doesn't give a sh*te.
Our first run of the new album arrives next week and details will soon be on the site.
It really is a breakthrough album for us this time in lots of ways, produced by Jim Spencer there are ten new, original tracks, those of you that have seen the band in the last year will probably have heard live. It's hard to believe sometimes how we fit everything in, life is such a pace and to have come out with this sixth album is a real accomplishment for BFCH for so many reasons.
Special times.
