19 : The Jolly Brewer, Lincoln – 22SEP07
We made two new friends on Saturday night and it was a pleasure to meet these fine musicians who had travelled from Oregon in the USA to play the Jolly Brewer in Lincoln amongst other venues on their trip to the UK and beyond. Two fine musicians with a mellow, full sound playing flat pick guitar and bass provided a great backdrop to one of Lincoln's renowned music venues that attracts the hippies of young and auld.
BFCH gave 30 mins of their time FOC and took a minibus and friends and followers along to the proceedings to support these two ladies whose talent was obvious and whose humility was genuine.
So for BFCH it was a bit of a practise for some new tunes 'Famous, Mammy' and 'Liberty' and the very first rather dodgy outing for 'Meet The Folks' all being recorded at present ready for the next album 'Late Lost Souls'. Do you know some geezer called James Blunt has only gone and nicked our name and called his newly release album 'All the Lost Souls'…guess he must of met plenty of us too!
A fine night, much drinking, much frolicking with the O'Marneys and the O'Norths and the one and only O'Mackie, there were bootsticks played on the floors and the ceilings as well as the local magician giving us a turn again and again…
We'll be back to the Brewer at some point to put on a gig in the beer garden and as for a trip to the USA, now wouldn't that be fine.
Thank you girls for taking our music to new shores.
