The floods had arrived so the outside gig became an inside gig in The Nags Head Pub (owned by Teressa) and considering Margaret has 13 children, 30 grand children and word had circulated we were on you can imagine the scene…an eight-piece line up, with Dawg thank goodness on his electronic kit and the sound being mainly acoustic, gave in fact a very good sound and the audience LOVED it.
You know sometimes in life we can lose our way, we are all too busy now, too much to do…maybe we all just want too many things and sometimes during the rush and the pressure we just forget where we are going and what we are aiming for? Read any magazine and you will always find a piece on the pursuance of happiness and how we can best find it…(maybe a spa treatment, yoga, botox, a new anti-wrinkle cream or just shop, shop, shop!!). Well, anyone who observed Margaret Doherty on her 80th birthday will see that this lady has truely found happiness and it is the sort of contentment and happiness that only comes from a whole lifetime of work, sweat and struggle. This lady is an inspiration to us all. 80 years old, sat right next to the speaker, smiling all night and knocking back the Barcardis, just enjoying the moment and appreciating her family and the fact that she is still here to enjoy them.
God Bless you Margaret and congratulations…we know you enjoyed your night and so did we.
Big thanks to The Doherty family, we were honoured to be there.
