Band From County Hell
Hey-Ho…Here We Go

08 : The Barge & Bottle – 11MAY07

The Band organised an extra un-ordinary gig to raise awareness for our chosen Cancer charity and we managed to hand over 320 big uns to Geoff Brocklebank. It was excellent and the bar had an increased revenue for what may have been a nice but dim evening. The acts were odd but brilliant each taking part with a big grin, I didn't have the chance to say thank you to them all but I will in time.

My auld mate Watson compèred the evening wit Joolz and between them created that extra un-ordinary BFCH chaos – like a riot could kick off at any minute. Big Dom Clarke won the oddest ODD BALL prize and was phased by no one.

Oddbod Oddbod Oddbod

First up…Meself singing songs aboot chickens, then the Mental Brothers, Bill Marney and his mate Simon (I thought it was The Proclaimers), then Rebbecca Holden,
'Tune that guitar for me as I can't hear a thing in here?' she asks.
I've never tuned a guitar in my life by ear but hey-ho, here we go. Then Dead Boy Chris, now he brought the house back to FKN watch and listen or F*CK off mode and it worked, followed by the lad from the post office Jason Paul, a look-a-like Paul Weller, then the three stooges Hammer, Mugger and O'Brealey, 'Who Are You Kiddin Mr Hitler', what were they on? Then Dead Cowboys, big Keith Roger and not to forget the legend Mighty Mac Corken, bloody brilliant. Mad Dawg Dowd on his solo drum piece has got to go down in history with his little ditty – no not that – his poem. Ben and his Bootstick Orchestra were superb with washboard Peg on the finest form for a 96 year old as Watson called her.

If I missed anyone out then I apologise of course. The French bands finished off, Doublage and Evasion both very good to round off this crazy night out. If you came then thank you and if you didn't then we will hopefully see you at a proper gig somewhere soon…
