The Devil Went Down To Georgia Boston

07 : The Axe & Cleaver, Boston – 05MAY07

This was one of the greatest gigs I have ever been to. Jock was as I have never seen him before, he had something on his mind, something proving or something sinister or I don't know just something and it all came clear…He was trying out his new album unyet recorded and it was awesome: 'Liberty', 'Late Lost Souls', 'Mammy', 'I Don't Want To Be Famous', these were the songs that stuck in my mind and they were outstanding.

There was no Brass section to be seen at this gig it was rumoured that Jock had sacked them – in saying that Brass is best left to FKN jazz outfits and has no place in Celtic-derived music – but no one actually heard him say this, well not me anyway.

The stage was possessed by demons and in his son Ben this was most apparent. At one point Jock called a fiddle solo cause he was p*ssed of wit something, I think him and Ben had fallen out. Anyway, Jock stopped playing crossed his arms over his banjo and stared at Ben – the boy I'm sure was possessed by the devil – he looked at his auld man and took him on and FECK me I'm sure lightning flew from his fingertips, sparks sieved from his bow, it was shredding at a rate of…well off this planet. Mugger took to the lead wit him and Mad Dawg and between them it was their band now…Jock was beaten,
'F*CK OFF McLELLAND, we're in control now.......'

You know they all stand on there own merits now but I'm sure A LITTLE BIT OF Jock MUST HAVE RUBBED OFF ON THEM AS THEY ARE JUST AS TEMPREMENTAL. A bit like the Independent Bypass Party that beat all the other candidates at the Boston elections. There must have been something in the air this week but it finished at The Axe on Saturday night.

......It went on for an eternity, the boy was exceptional, Jock never gives his boy praise but I'm gonna and Ben McLelland I salute you. At the end of his solo Jock smiled he had been proved or reassured or I don't know beaten in a — sort of this is as much mine as yours sort of way.

Hammer McKeys had a vocal mic and was like a young Liberarce (well you what I mean) blended wit Gerry Lee Lewis, he was wild. The crowd was wild, it was the Wildest West I have ever been part of and I am pleased to say if I never go to another gig again this was the one of all time. I noticed a new look Helzed wit some groovy girly gear on. Did anyone get a picture of her this would be good for the BFCH crew to attire to?

Boston Party In The Park – I will see you there.
