Band From County Hell
Dancin' The Night Away

03 : Woody's, Ancaster – 16MAR07

It's Saturday morning and I want to write this gig rant before I get ready for tonight's gig at the Drill Hall.

The Boys

We continued our St Pat's celebrations at Woody's last night in their new area – a huge room decked out inside with marquee frills and a good sized stage (well, for a normal band!) and dance area.

The caravans and campers had arrived, the venue had let people know that one of the country's best Celtic bands were appearing and the buzz had paid off…a busy night, a good crowd, listeners and eventually we got the audience off their chairs and dancing the night away. 'CDs, CDs'…new fans were buying our work.

We had a full line up and all of the boys were on form: 'Prison Walls' made a welcome return to the set and once everyone remembered how to play it (pre gig!) it sounded better than ever with Hammer and Mugger putting their special touch to what has been one of our most requested songs.

Support on the gig came from John, Bridgett and Chris…a great trio playing lively Irish music and they kicked the night off in style. Young Tom (BFCH Irish dancer) took to the floor several times and had the audience in the palm of his hand. I had to look twice at him this year, he's growing into a young man and I admire his bottle to perform completely alone doing the most wonderful Irish dancing. God bless him – he's a good boy with a good Mum.

It's a great time for the band, new horizons and opportunities are coming our way…we are how we should be, one family, one goal …we've been up and we've been down but we're still here and it just gets better. We have the energy of youth and the experience of age – it's a great combination!
